Mission Statement

Members of the association are CPAs in public practice, industry, education, or government, or they may be students enrolled in a qualified accounting program at one of New Mexico's  colleges or universities. CPAs in public practice assist with taxes, conduct audits, to serve as consultants on a variety of business issues, or assist with personal and corporate financial planning. A CPA in industry could be the controller, VP of finance, or CEO, among many other positions, within a company. CPAs also work for local and state government agencies, and are the professors of the accounting programs at colleges and universities across the state.

If you are a CPA just starting your career or looking to enhance it, there are simple, easy to read, and informative articles on job and career planning available on the web site in our Career & Job-Search Tips series.

CPAs must meet strict reporting requirements for three-years periods depending on the status of their certificates. As a number one member service, the NMSCPA will offer 80 continuing education courses to its members. You can Search for any of our courses from this site.

The NMSCPA has several resources available to the public. If you need the service of a CPA, but don't know where to turn, the NMSCPA has a Referral Service that will help you find a CPA who does work in the specific area you need.

The on-site professional education center (PEC) is available for rental by the public. The PEC room can seat up to forty people classroom style, and refreshments can be supplied. So if you need a meeting room, and your office doesn't have the space call or Email the Society offices for full information and who to contact.
