ALBUQUERQUE – The NMSCPA (“the Society”) is pleased to announce that Kelcy Flanagan, CPE and Communications Director for the New Mexico Society of CPAs, was selected as the new president of the Society on May 31, 2017. Her new role commences on July 1, 2017.

Lisa Todd, chair-elect of the Society and a member of the search committee, said that Kelcy has done an excellent job during her four-year tenure with the Society. She said, "All of us have worked with Kelcy for the past four years and have had a chance to observe her outstanding work ethic, her keen knowledge of Society objectives and programs, and her strong leadership skills."

Society Chair Bob Austin said, "During Kelcy's tenure at the Society she has exhibited the utmost professionalism, work ethic, and skill directing and supervising a number of Society initiatives."

Ms. Flanagan has managed the Society's CPE program, including the scheduling of seminars and conferences; the acquisition of qualified instructors; and preparing and monitoring budgets.

Ms. Flanagan has served as the key staff leader in the Society's Leadership Academy; Young CPAs group; Student Pipeline; Awards and Scholarship Committees; and communications including newsletters, social media, and website.

John Carey, president of the Society said, "Kelcy has taken on every assignment she's been given with efficiency, dedication, and thoroughness. She is richly deserving of this promotion. I look forward to working with her to ensure a smooth transition during the next few weeks."

Ms. Flanagan received her Bachelors of Business Administration, Cum Laude, from Florida International University. Prior to her role with the Society, she worked in hotel management; University Athletic Club administration; banking; and administration with a tax consulting firm.
