Southwest Women's Law Center Board of Directors - Treasurer

Volunteer Postings

Date Posted: March 14, 2024

The mission of the Southwest Women’s Law Center (“SWLC”) is to create opportunities for women in New Mexico, so they realize their full economic and personal potential. Since our inception in 2005, we have worked to eliminate gender bias, discrimination, and harassment; to lift women and their families out of poverty; and to ensure all women have full control over their reproductive lives through access to comprehensive reproductive health services and information. We seek to advance the well-being, rights, and power of women in New Mexico through legal research, policy analysis, advocacy, community and stakeholder education, and coalition work at the local, state, and national levels.
A Treasurer would be most successful if they have prior experience reviewing and /or creating budgets, reviewing financial reports, reviewing audits, and etc. for 501 (c)(3) organizations.
Please email a resume and a brief cover letter to apply. If there are any questions, please email Terrelene Massey, Esq., Executive Director, at tmassey@swwomenslaw.org.

Ethos Literacy Volunteer Board Position

Volunteer Postings

Date Posted: March 6, 2024

New Mexico has the lowest literacy rate in the United States, with less than 71% of adults having basic reading and writing skills. Ethos Literacy is a local not for profit organization dedicated to serving the literacy needs of Bernalillo County by pairing adult students with volunteer tutors (often retired teachers) who teach them to read, write, and speak English proficiently. By developing these skills, individuals are able to meet their career goals, attain educational certifications, help their children in school, advocate for themselves, and end the cycle of poverty. In addition to providing governance and financial oversight, the Board of Directors assists in the mission of the Ethos Literacy by raising awareness, developing community partnerships, organizing events, reviewing grant applications, and communicating with donors. The Board is looking for interested people to aid in these endeavors, particularly those with financial expertise. Many hands make light work, so whatever your interests and availability, if you’re looking to devote your time to a meaningful cause, consider serving with us. A board term is 12 months and our Board meets virtually on a Saturday morning once a month. For additional information, visit our website at ethosliteracy.org or email miranda@ethosliteracy.org.
